Hey.
I'm only 13, but I want to move to Japan in the near future. I'm half English, half Portuguese, but i have a Portuguese passport. I'm currently learning Japanese, so theirs no need to worry about me not knowing the language.
But do i need an English passport? Which is easier? English or Portuguese?
I want to know what i should do to move to Japan, and around what age should i go? As soon as i get my university degree?
Also, i live in the west midlands of England, so the nearest city is Birmingham. My parents are quite prepared to give me money for courses for Japanese, but i also want to do a job in science. What jobs are there for science? I'm very good in science, i could easily manage As, but if i tried extra hard i could get A+ (A stars).
I've been looking on the internet a lot for moving to Japan, but i've read that you have to teach English for a few years or something... To be honest, i don't want to teach, my mother's a teacher, and know how annoying it is. And standing in front of a class isn't really my cup of tea... Though if it was like private tutoring, i wouldn't mind it so much.
I know i need to get a japanese visa, but how? And where?
Also, what is an embassy? I was told that i need to get/do one if i want to move to Japan. Where do
it get it?
Also, I'm a little concerned about being sponsored by an employer . Especially with the recession on. I was told i need to visit japan before moving to get sponsored and all that stuff. Sorry if this information is incorrect, please tell me more about all this.
I'm not too worried about culture, food, religion, because i'm an agnostic, but i'm very much open to concept of religion (Since my family range from many religions). So i could easily change to shinto etc. (Please don't be offended) =)
I've looked into moving to Japan, but i haven't found any answers that suit me best. I look forward to your answers... Detailed answers are greatly appreciated! =DWhat I need to move to Japan.?
The passport you'll get will depend on what country you're a citizen of.
You can't even think of moving to Japan until you have a four year degree. No, you don't have to teach English. That is the most common job people get. That and high tech jobs. To get a work visa, you need to have a job offer before you get there. The employer would be the one to sponsor you. You don't need to go to Japan first, but you may want to see how a country is before you decide you want to move there.
What you're talking about is at least 8 years in the future. A lot can change in that time period. What I need to move to Japan.?
Godzilla spray...will help
First of all, wow... you're only 13 and already thinking far ahead of what to do with your adult life.
I would say, time is on your side so take it easy. There are many books that are available on this subject. Here are some:
1. A Practical Guide to Living in Japan: Everything You Need to Know to Successfully Settle In by Jarrell D. Sieff (Paperback - 2003)
2. Living Abroad in Japan by Ruth Kanagy (Paperback - Sept. 7, 2004)
3. Moon Living Abroad in Japan by Ruth Kanagy (Paperback - Sept. 1, 2008)
All the best and keep the dream alive. Don't hesitate to ask more questions.
I don't want to disappoint you, but I live in Japan and I know a lot.
as long as you are a tourist, exchange student.. you will have a great experience.
but if you are planning to live in Japan, you should know that it's not easy at all
because simply the Japanese wont accept you in there community, no matter how
your Japanese is good, no matter how you are interested in their culture. you will remain
an outsider. you will have only the Japanese friends who want to practice their English
with you nobody cares about your Japanese level...trust me.
but as long as you are temporarily staying in Japan, you will have a lot of fun.
after all the Japanese people are very kind and gentle.
Firstly, you're only 13. Don't plan you're life at that age. You should be more interested in trying to get into girls pants at that age. Also if you need to ask ';what is an embassy'; I think we can safely assume you are in no position to travel the seven seas for the time being.
However I will give you some advice that you may be able to think about. UK passports are one of the best in the world (highly respected) so if you can get that do it. If you want to work in Japan I would strongly advise you to get a degree before you go. About the religion factor, an open mind is good but Japanese people are really not very religious. Ask the average Japanese person about Shintoism and their response will most likely be ';what's shintoism?';
Anyway to get a visa you go to an embassy. An embassy is a building that deal with international affairs on behalf of one country. For example, The Japanese Embassy in England is in London. If you want a Japanese visa you have to go there to ask about obtaining one. If you want a Japanese work visa you do need sponsorship from a company in Japan. The main companies that hire abroad are teaching companies which is unfortunate for you as you said you don't like that. Alternatively, you could get a student visa and study in Japan (quite easy to get if you have a lot of money to pay for courses) or you could apply for a working holiday visa. look at the UK Japan embassy website to find out more.
Hope that helps. But don't think about these things for like 5 years...
I know just how you feel, I'm 20 And ive wanted to move to japan since I was 9, yes you indeed need a visa. I don't Know much on anything else. But what I do know is that there are a lot of street racers down there. The first day I got my license was the day I started learning to drift and started street racing. Thats why my car has over 50grand under the hood and 10grand in body work/extras. NO i'm not rich lol. I just race for pink slips only +cash, Ive lost 2 cars that way and 5grand but ive got 5cars and gained 30grand that way, and took those apart and sold a couple.
I'm prolly gonna be street racing till i die
And i want to move there for the racing/drift events.etc
And cops don't chase you if your going over 180k.
Witch is quite awesome.
((no i didn't get that from Tokyo drift, my friend lives there and he tried it on a cop, he was goin 190k+ and cop didn't even try to stop him))
