I fell like people/dating/popularity in High School is immature. Do you? PLEASE ANSWER!!! =)?

I'm a freshman, but I'm not happy. It feels like I'm the only one who cares about my academics and dosn't care about impressing. Here are some grievances I have. Sorry If they're rude, but I'm just so mad right now!!

*Ditzy people: The girls seem ditzy and too obsessed with materialistic things. They need to grow up.

*Popularity: Please, like I'm going to kiss the @ss of other students to be more liked. I'm secure without codependence.

*Dating: I don't think declaring you love someone 2 days after learning their name is really genuine. I hate how people always go ';Do you have a boyfriend?!?!?'; and stuff like that like it's an effin trophy. People at my school actually date the hottest people just to become popular! Ugh!

(I鈥檇 like to add that some relationships can be serious, but I鈥檝e only seen one like that.)

*Sports: I鈥檇 like to actually see someone put ';I can run a 40 yard dash in 4.8'; on a college app. I realize you want to be fit, and it may be fun, but it's taken too seriously. People are always talking about who the best players are ect ect. Enjoy the game and worry about banging the blondes after they get tested.

*Cheating (Academically): I had the ';Popular'; advisory class last year. There were 5 students who would come in and ask ';Did we have any Spanish homework? Did you do that packet?'; And people would help them so they'd become more popular. If you didn't help them, they'd whine and gossip.

In fact, I never saw them come in with finished papers...

*Stereotyping: I wore glasses, played games, loved computers, and got strait A's last year. I got stereotyped as a wimp since I have chronic asthma and can't gain weight (It's hard to believe but it's true). People were always trying to act big and tough to get me to share homework or test answers. Some football player got in a fight with me since I wouldn鈥檛 help him write a HTML page. He tried to punch me in slow motion. I just moved a bit and sucker punched him. He cried.

*Attitude: Just because you have a couple more friends (and they aren鈥檛 trophies, don鈥檛 say they are.) doesn鈥檛 mean you鈥檙e better then me.

*Clothes: I don鈥檛 mind if you wear stuff from a thrift store IMHO. If you wear 70$ Abercrombie and Holister shirts, you鈥檙e trying too hard. I don鈥檛 mind AE and Aero since they鈥檙e extremely comfy and affordable.

To girls, please be more conservative. Don鈥檛 stuff your boobs, wear XXS鈥檚 instead of a M, and tie back shirts.

*Skating: Don鈥檛 wear a million Bam Margta (SP?) Element T-Shirts if you havn鈥檛 even stepped on a board. I think power to you if you wear skater style clothes, just don鈥檛 wear like skateboard brand products because they鈥檙e popular. Element, DC, and DGK for example shouldn鈥檛 be worn if you don鈥檛 know what they are.

*Rebelling: I鈥檇 like to see you try. See what it does to your freshman year. My sister bombed hers since she was rebelling to fit in.

*Drugs: Don鈥檛 poison yourself because it looks cool, or they did it on MTV.

*Music: Don鈥檛 listen to what you don鈥檛 like, and don鈥檛 criticize taste. If someone likes Techno/Rave, let them be.

Rap is very unoriginal, in my opinion. Don鈥檛 listen to Rap songs that have a million curse words at church (This happened, actually.)

*iPhones: You have to be kidding if you think this is actually a good deal. These are REALLY expensive and have crazy bills. Don鈥檛 buy them, buy normal iPods. A 200$ ipod and 100$ phone + 20 a month is better then 400$ + 100 a month (What my sister鈥檚 average bill is).

Anyway, thank you very much for reading this, if you did. I had to get this off my chest so bad. I鈥檓 going insane.

I鈥檓 sorry if I鈥檓 stuck up or any of these opinions annoy you. I'm so mad :(I fell like people/dating/popularity in High School is immature. Do you? PLEASE ANSWER!!! =)?
Brian...what you have written is exactly what students of today need to hear. You summed it up perfectly! I enjoyed reading this great piece of writing as I've seen you ask other questions on here. I'm saving this one to my computer. Hopefully one day I'll find it again and let my younger children read it when they get to high school. You will do well in your life if you haven't already gotten there.I fell like people/dating/popularity in High School is immature. Do you? PLEASE ANSWER!!! =)?
you'll be fine kid :)

i felt the same way in high school...

just get good grades, work hard, stay out of trouble %26amp; be yourself.

college will be a lot better...i promise.

i'm a college grad now %26amp; i look at a bunch of the 'popular' kids i went to high school with %26amp; you know what?

they're still stuck in high school, %26amp; it's sad.

there are kids that peak in high school...so let them have these couple years, because it's all downhill for them afterward.

they'll stay in the same social circles, drink too much, get fat %26amp; not graduate college.

%26amp; kids like you will be successful %26amp; a lot happier :)

good luck!
Congratulations, you've managed to sum up exactly how I feel. I wish you were at my school. I think we'd be friends :P. Anyway it gets better so don't be too mad over it. :)
well i kinda hate that type of stuff 2 but i do have expensive stuff. i m popular and so r my friends so we dont need 2 do stupid things like drugs 2 fit in.i get straight as and stuff but no 1 even knows in my school and they dont even know that i like 2 read books.they think i m one of those grls that get cs.i think u know about that type of grls.i get in trouble sometimes like1time i had my ipod and i waz listening 2 in on field day and i waz on my cell on a field trip but the teachers kno that im a good student so i get speacial treatment.where the dating i dont date rite now.4 me its only things of that nature.
Agreed :). I do wear clothes from hollister and stuff (actually, hollister isn't any more expensive than aeropostale or american eagle, but I agree with you about abercrombie and fitch. WAY too expensive) but I'm not all stuck up and mean to people (well, unless they're mean to me) But yeah I totally agree with you. High school is overrated.
Wow, everything you wrote is exactly how I felt 15yrs ago in 9th grade. Seems like things do repeat themselves lol.. I never fit in with any crowd because I chose not to. You're not stuck up, you're mature and you see things/people for what they really are.

In high school it felt like I was surrounded by a bunch of robots and I was the only real person there! I mean, kids were sooo fake it's unreal

How is copying another fake person cool? It's cycle of lost souls...the blind leading the blind and none of them know what they want, or what they're doing in life because they're too immature to realize that none of their ';so-called'; friends, or the ';cool crowds'; really give a crap about each other because they're all selfish and only care about themselves. And if you really think about it, what makes them supposedly ';cool'; anyway? They lie, cheat, kiss *ss, belittle, badger, pick, and annoy other's that are not like them. To me, that's not cool. It sounds more like they're Immature, selfish, ignorant bullies lol that think life revolves around them, until the wake up call when they're out in the real world and can't fend for themselves so they have to cry home to mommy and daddy for help lol.

Ughh, imbosils! Don't worry about them kid, you will be just fine, it's them you should be laughing at because you already know more than they do :)
i m also same like you i dont believe in guys just sayin ';i love you';.....keep goin dude.......!!!u re on a right track......
